With this series of short videos, I’m going to help you avoid a whole bunch of S. H. I. T.
Pull Ups and Lat Pull Downs can be really, really hard for some people. If you cannot do them, here’s an alternative called the Straight Arm Press Down. It’s also good for people who (like me) have tendinitis in their elbows, and need to be able to strengthen the lats without pulling through with inflamed muscles.
Keep the back flat. Bend over at the waist a little bit: You’ll get more range of motion this way. Press down with straight arms through your palms.
Be careful not to hunch forward: You can hurt yourself. Similarly, don’t crunch your neck. Keep everything in alignment. Exhale, push. Inhale, resist.
